The Hongkong government proposed that in Extradition cases depositions taken in China should be admitted in criminal evidence with regard to prisoners who have not resided six months.

Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge your despatch No. 99 of the 5th May last, on the subject of the procedure in cases of the extradition from Hongkong of Chinese Fugitive Criminals, and to submit that under stringent provisions and safeguards to assure that torture has not been used in the matter.

The Foreign Office approve, we may therefore inform you that H.M's Govt see no objection.
